Unreal
“Of course vampires are real,” Sokka said. “There’s no other way to explain what’s been happening.”
Prince Zuko’s cheek twitched. “You’re saying that the glazed look, the big, dreamy eyes, the sighs and hot flashes…they’re all being caused by vampires?” He pinched the bridge of his nose. “You really believe this?”
“Look at them.” He gestured to where Katara, Toph and Suki all sat gazing at the horizon, where the last vestiges of the sun had slipped to reveal the cool, seductive blues of twilight. They murmured dreamily to themselves. “No. Other. Explanation.”
Zuko folded his arms across his chest. “If these so-called vampires are real, you’ve seen them, right?”
Sokka mirrored the Firebender’s stance and nodded solemnly.
“Okay, smart guy. What do they look like?”
“Impossibly handsome.” The Water Tribe boy cut a brooding, mysterious look. “With a jaw like this, and cheekbones, and these eyes. And HAIR.”
“Riiight.”
“Oh, and they sparkle in the sunlight.”
“They…sparkle…?”
“In the sun. It’s a common misconception that vampires will spontaneously combust. Bad sunburn at worst. They just need lots of sunscreen.”
The girls all sighed again. “No other explanation,” Sokka repeated woefully. “They’ve had their brains and souls sucked from them.”
“Seriously? Seriously. I don’t believe this.” Zuko marched toward where the girls sat. “You want to see a cure for vampires, Sokka? Watch and learn.” He stripped his shirt off and dropped it to the ground, then sauntered up in front of the starry-eyed girls.
“He-lloooo, ladies.” Zuko made a pretence of stretching and flexing his sculpted form in front of the three. “I could use your help applying this scented moisturizer. Would you mind?”
Somewhere, someone fainted.
He stood there for three seconds. Five seconds. A full ten seconds in plain view, bare chested, and still he hadn’t garnered a reaction. And he was starting to get cold.
Okay, Toph was blind, but even her blank stare seemed more distant than usual. And Katara was usually all over him if even a sliver of torso peek
above his waistband.
Slowly, slowly, Suki’s green gaze refocused and homed in on Zuko’s chest. Her pupils dilated hugely. “Oh. My. God.”
Ah, there was the response he was looking for.
“Jacob? OMIGOD, JACOB, I LOVE YOU!!!”
“What? Who’s Ja—”
Katara and Toph whipped their eyes toward him. “JACOB! OMG JACOB SQUEE!!!”
The three raved nonsense sounds, spewing random noises and words as they tackled him to the ground.
“TEAM JACOB!”
“LURVE YOU!!!”
“FURRY POWER!!!” They trampled the fire prince, their fingers gouging at his tender flesh.
“I forgot to tell you,” Sokka shouted as Zuko was buried beneath a pile of grasping, writhing females, “werewolves are real, too!
